2022 New Hampshire Heart Walk is Back in Person on Sunday, June 5th in Manchester

The American Heart Association’s New Hampshire Heart Walk is scheduled for Sunday, June 5th at Manchester’s Livingston Park. This year’s event will be back in person with a kick-off celebration starting at 10 AM hosted by 96.5 The Mill’s Laura Stelchook.

Bryan Hussey, President at Metro Walls and 2022 Heart Walk Chair, has set a goal with his committee to raise $130,000 through corporate donations and walk teams.It’s never been a better time to find new ways to boost physical and emotional health. Joining the Heart Walk is a great way to socially connect and get moving – all while making a great impact in our community and saving lives,” said Hussey. 

This year, Catholic Medical Center’s (CMC) New England Heart & Vascular Institute will be on hand with free blood pressure screenings for all Heart Walk participants. High blood pressure is a symptomless “silent killer” that quietly damages blood vessels and leads to serious health problems such as heart attack and stroke. In fact, most people who have had a stroke also hadhigh blood pressure.

“High blood pressure damages arteries throughout the body, creating conditions in which they can burst or clog more easily, which is whymanaging high blood pressureis critical to reducing your risk. Knowing all of your numbers such as blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar and body mass index are so important in preventing cardiovascular diseases. Be sure to get these checked out with your doctor as well as sharing any family history of heart disease or stroke,” said Michelle Ouellette, MD, FACC, FSCAI, the Association’s New Hampshire Board President and CMC Interventional Cardiologist.

 Heart disease and stroke are leading causes of death in New Hampshire. The Association is the world’s leading voluntary organization focused onheart and brain health. The Heart Walk will useful prevention information aimed at inspiring people to improve their heart and brain health. 

 By participating in the Heart Walk, you’re helping to save more babies and kids who have congenital heart defects, train thousands in lifesaving CPR, and funding groundbreaking brain and heart research. Currently, the Association is funding three research grants in New Hampshire totaling over $1.2 million at Dartmouth College and the University of New Hampshire.
