2022 Men Go Red campaign raised $58,510

The 2022 Men Go Red for Women gather at the River Street Market in Troy on the last day of their campaign.

On Wear Red Day, Friday, Feb. 4, 10 Capital Region, NY, men turned the national day of awareness about women’s heart health into their own personal cause.

For six weeks beginning on Feb. 4, the Men Go Red for Women raised funds, held events, dressed in red, and raised awareness about the No. 1 killer of women, heart disease.

The campaign concluded on Friday, March 18, and the grand total the men raised was announced at The River Street Market, 433 River St., Troy.

Together, the 10 who were the 2022 Men Go Red for Women raised $58, 510. The top three fundraisers were:

  • Dan Fruscio of CAP COM Federal Credit Union, $11,460.
  • James Miller of NYSCOPBA, $11,000
  • Jer Halloran of Bank of America, $8, 600

“These men, and their teams of supporters, have truly inspired me. They accepted the challenge, in still uncertain times, and have taken so much of their precious time and energy to spread awareness and creatively raise money for the American Heart Association,” said Christianne Smith, principal, Designsmith Studio; co-chair of the 2022 Men Go Red for Women committee; and co-chair of the 2021 Go Red for Women campaign. “If that’s not commitment, class, and belief in this cause — I don’t know what is. It has been my honor being a part of the Men Go Red initiative since its inception; it’s an exciting way to reach and engage with a new audience.”

Michele Kollmer, relationship manager, CAP COM @Work, at CAP COM Federal Credit Union, co-chaired the 2021 Go Red for Women campaign with Smith, and has returned to co-chair the Men Go Red for Women campaign.

“We are honored to have another amazing group of men that have continued the success of the Men Go Red initiative,” Kollmer said. “These men stand united and continue to propel this campaign forward by raising awareness and funds for heart disease in women.”
