In January, the American Heart Association revealed a new location for the mobile CPR kiosk – the VCU Student Commons in Richmond, VA. Students will now have easy access to learn how to help someone experiencing a cardiac arrest.
Nine out of 10 people who experience cardiac arrest outside of a hospital will not make it. The American Heart Association is committed to changing these statistics by teaching the public the two easy steps of Hands-Only CPR with the help of kiosks placed around the country.
What is the Mobile CPR Kiosk?
The mobile CPR kiosk is a touchscreen device which offers an in-depth walkthrough of how to perform CPR – including hand positions, rhythm, and information on how to use an AED.
During the kiosk’s launch event at VCU, Nyla Harris, a university student and hero of the community, was awarded the ‘American Heart Association HeartSaver Hero Award for her brave actions in saving a life. She will serve as an ambassador for the kiosk on campus, encouraging her peers to learn CPR.
The kiosk is free and easy to use. It will continue to travel throughout Central Virginia for the next three years. Stay up-to-date on the kiosk’s latest location at heart.org/Virginia and visit the VCU Student Commons today to test your skills.
