November is Eat Smart Month, a celebration of the Healthy for Good™ movement, and the American Heart Association is honoring this month by fighting heart disease and stroke by promoting healthy lifestyle changes. In New York City, the Association is partnering with Citi to inspire residents to improve their health outcomes and create lasting change in their health and life, one small step at a time. At the core of this partnership are three simple approaches: Eat Smart. Move More. Be Well.
“Citi has been a supporter of the American Heart Association’s Healthy for Good movement since 2014, primarily through its participation in the Wall Street Run & Heart Walk,” said Meg Gilmartin, Executive Director/ Senior Vice President, American Heart Association, New York City. “With this continued sponsorship, Citi broadens its commitment to the Association’s mission with an emphasis on addressing health disparities via investment, volunteerism and education, along with a continued commitment to improving the health of their employees.”
With the coronavirus pandemic impacting our daily lives, the message and promise of the Healthy for Good platform is more important than ever before. Healthy for Good is a positive trend that starts with one healthy choice and leads to another. The method of the movement is to help people make simple healthy decisions while sustaining habits all rooted in a place of knowledge and know-how.
“Citi is proud to partner with the American Heart Association to fight the number one killer and number one disabler of Americans, heart disease and stroke,” said Dr. Lori Zimmerman, Corporate Medical Director, Citi. “For many years, we have participated in the Association’s premier event in New York City, the Wall Street Run & Heart Walk, which our employees truly enjoy. But now, we are called upon to deepen our commitment and help our community eat smart, move more and be well. Ultimately, we want to be a partner in making this city a healthier place to live, work and grow.”
