American Heart Association Announces 2020 Go Red for Women® Leadership and Honorees

The 2020 Go Red for Women® Luncheon will be held on Thursday, March 19 at the Holiday Inn By the Bay in Portland. This 11th annual American Heart Association event aims to educate attendees about heart disease and stroke in women while raising research funds to help educate, diagnose, and treat these diseases.

This year’s Luncheon is being led by Kimberly J. Twitchell, Maine Regional President, NBT Bank. Twitchell and her committee are planning an exciting day with inspirational speakers, educational workshops, health screenings, an amazing silent auction, and a heart-healthy lunch with a goal to raise $420,000.

“Cardiovascular diseases claim the lives of one in three women – that’s a third of our mothers, sisters and friends. And as a daughter, I understand how cardiovascular disease affects the entire family as my mom suffered a stroke at the age of 67.  It’s time to be demanding when it comes to women’s heart health and ask others to do the same,” said Twitchell. “Our goal for this event is to educate attendees on how to avert this serious, and mostly preventable, health threat so that more women’s lives can be saved.”

Approximately 650 of Southern Maine’s top business leaders attend the Luncheon –an event that includes educational sessions, a heart-healthy lunch, a silent auction, stories from heart disease and stroke survivors, and an awards ceremony for this year’s distinguished honorees: Dr. Lucy Liaw, Research Scientist with Maine Medical Center Research Institute, and Michael Bourque, President and CEO of MEMIC.
