“For nearly 100 years, the American Heart Association has been fighting heart disease and I am honored to be part of the history of helping families and communities thrive,” said Kerwin. “The past several years have shown us that no matter where we are, we can come together for a common cause.”

The 2023 Delaware Heart Ball will take place April 14 at the Hyatt Place Dewey Beach. The annual celebratory event will feature silent and live auctions and inspiring stories of survival.

Heart disease is the nation’s No. 1 cause of death, claiming more lives than all forms of cancer combined. Stroke is the No. 5 cause of death in the U.S. and a leading cause of long-term disability. The Delaware Heart Ball is an opportunity to honor those who suffer from heart disease and stroke, and to raise funds for the advancement of research initiatives and community education programs.

“I am eager to work with our outstanding team of volunteers and the American Heart Association as we all advocate to make a difference in the well-being of people in Delaware,” said Kerwin. “We’re going beyond the ballroom for a year-round campaign to ensure everyone has an opportunity for a full and healthy life.”

Kerwin has an extensive background in philanthropic work. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Alfred University and a master’s degree from Wilmington University. She joined the Wilmington Trust Company in 2005, which merged with M&T Bank in 2011, and has held multiple roles during her tenure. Kerwin also serves on the Bank’s governing Charitable Committee and sits on the Executive Boards of both Wilmington Alliance and the Committee of 100 and well as serving as chair of the Economic Development committee for the Committee of 100. She lives in Avondale, PA, with her husband and their four children.
