American Heart Association Honors Heart Savers

Over the years the American Heart Association Long Island Board & Heart Saver Awards Dinner has grown into something that not only thanks people from our Long Island community but continues to inspire everyone involved to continue to do what we do each day. Thursday, October 5th, was no exception.

“Our Long Island Board installation dinner features the induction of new Long Island Board members which this year include: Vigay Alreja, Jerry Figliuolo, CPA, Jorge L. Gardyn, MD FACP, Jaspreet S. Mayall, Esq., Joseph J. Perry, CPA, Andrew J. Schnker and Reese A. Wain, MD” said Long Island Board Chair, Wynne Nowland, Chief Executive Officer of Bradley & Parker, Inc.

For many years now, we have partnered with the Louis J. Acompora Memorial Foundation, specifically John & Karen Acompora, who lost their son Louis to commotio cordis when he was 14,  to highlight saves that have taken place across Long Island.  Because of Louis’ Law that they helped pass, 97 lives have been saved in NYS schools because of it.  Together, the American Heart Association and the Louis J. Acompora Memorial Foundation help bring together the people that were saved with those who helped save them.

This year, the American Heart Association also presented their Lifestyle Change Awards, which were given to individuals who have made significant healthy lifestyle changes.
