The American Heart Association in New Hampshire is entering its 2022-23 fiscal year with dedicated volunteers who will lead the organization’s local team in pursuit of its mission, to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives.

The Association thanks members who have completed their board terms and has named a new president and chair, along with welcoming three new members to its board of directors. Together they will serve as a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives.

Stepping up into leadership roles are the Association’s Board Chair Mark Dell’Orfano, an energy, natural resources, and corporate lawyer, and Board President Michelle Ouellette, MD, an interventional cardiologist with Catholic Medical Center.

The newest members of the Association’s Board of Directors include: Sean Medhani, Director of Cardiology, New England Heart & Vascular Institute; Ryan Terrell, Managing Director, SOLVE Beauty Brands; and Vikas Veeranna, MD, cardiologist, New England Heart & Vascular Institute.

“As a volunteer-based organization, the American Heart Association relies on the dedication of men and women who are committed to our mission, and whose passion helps drive our success,” says Brian Shankey, the Association’s Executive Director for Northern New England.  “We are grateful for our volunteer Board of Directors, whose leadership will propel the Association’s work toward our 2024 Health Equity Impact Goal, reducing barriers to health care access and quality.”

Incoming board members will work alongside the Association’s New Hampshire staff to advance its mission and fundraising priorities. The board oversees opportunities for investment in New Hampshire to improve health and well-being and will build on existing efforts around health care access and quality, addressing issues of nutrition and food security, hypertension reduction, CPR awareness and more.
