The mission of the American Heart Association in New York City is to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular disease and stroke. To achieve this mission, the AHA attempts to make an extraordinary impact by meeting people where they are. To that end, this month our team will be active across the city, working to improve and extend the lives of all New Yorkers.

National Night Out
Date:

Location:
Fort Greene Park, Brooklyn
Description:
A nationwide safety event that occurs the first Tuesday in August every year. National Night Out builds stronger neighborhood spirit, police-community partnerships and lowers crime.

Service: AHA will provide Hands-Only CPR training and nutrition awareness.

Brooklyn Cyclones Game 
Date: August 3
Time: 4:30 p.m. – 7:30 pm. (game starts at 7 p.m.)
Location: MCU Park, Coney Island, Brooklyn
Description: NYU Langone Health’s employee and family night.
Service: Sharing information about joining the Brooklyn Heart and Stroke Walk.

Community and Back to School Wellness Fair at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital Queens

Description:
Community health and wellness fair.
Service: AHA will provide information about our Check. Change. Control. program. 

Turner Construction Health Fair

Description:
Employee health and wellness fair.
Service: AHA will provide information about our blood pressure program, Check. Change. Control. program

Harlem Revive! Health and Career Fair

Jackie Robinson Park at 89 Bradhurst Ave, Harlem
Description: 
An outdoor health and career fair. 
Service: 
AHA will provide a Hands-Only CPR demonstration and information about Cardiovascular disease and stroke prevention.

SUNY College Summer Annual Health and Wellness Expo
Date: August 5 
Time: 
12:00 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Location: SUNY College of Optometry, 33 West 42nd Street, Manhattan

Description: 
An indoor health and wellness expo hosted by SUNY College. 
Service: 
AHA will provide a Hands-Only CPR demonstration and information about Cardiovascular disease and stroke prevention.

Summer Streets
Date: August 5, August 12, August 19 
Time: 
7 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Location: 
Stretches of Lafayette St. and Park Ave., Manhattan
Description: 
Stretches of Manhattan will be closed to motor vehicles and open to the public for biking, strolling and dancing. Activities and entertainment —musical performances, a water slide, bicycling, a climbing wall and a 165-foot zip line.  
Service: 
AHA will present our Healthy For Good program, provide a Hands-Only CPR demonstration and provide an opportunity to join the “You’re the Cure” movement.

Saturday in the Park

Location: Fort Greene Park, Brooklyn
Description: 
Community health and wellness fair.

Service: AHA will provide Hands-Only CPR demonstration and information about joining the Brooklyn Heart and Stroke Walk.

Union Community Health Center Health Fair

August 17, August 18

Time: 1:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. (Aug. 17), 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. (Aug. 18) 
Location: 260 188th St., Bronx
Description:
Employee and community health and wellness fair.

Service: AHA will provide our Check.Change.Control program and blood pressure educational resources to UCHC employees and patients as part of National Health Center Awareness Month.

Boogie on the Boulevard
Date:
August 20
Time:
12:00 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Location:
Grand Concourse from 162nd Street to 170th Street, Bronx
Description: 
Get ready to Boogie! The center lanes of the Grand Concourse will be closed to cars and open to a world of fun with free music, art and fitness programs.
Service: 
AHA will host a fitness demonstration and provide an opportunity to join the “You’re the Cure” movement.

Back to School Health Fair with North Bronx Hospital

Description: 
An annual back to school health fair hosted by North Bronx Hospital

Service: 
AHA will provide Hands Only CPR demonstrations and provide an opportunity to join the “You’re the Cure” movement.

Kids Food Festival
Date: 
August 26th and 27th
Time: 
10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Location: 
Westfield World Trade Center, Manhattan, NY
Description:  
The Kids Food Festival is a free and open series of events that educates families on how to make balanced food choices through fun and engaging activities, including hands-on cooking classes, food sampling, family-friendly activities and entertainment.

Service: 
AHA will provide Hands Only CPR demonstrations and provide an opportunity to join the “You’re the Cure” movement.
