The American Heart Association is helping local organizations improve the health of Corning and Steuben County. Applications are now open for Community Impact Grants. These grants, made possible by the Estate of Mary Vohar Lilley, help local organizations start or continue programs that have a positive impact on the heart health of the community.
“We are looking for innovative projects,” said Lisa Neff, senior community impact director with the American Heart Association. “These proposals should address social determinants of health and promote systemic change through strong, outcome-focused initiatives.”
Grant awards will range from $500 up to $10,000. Priority will be given to proposals that directly benefit the City of Corning, NY, but all funds must be used within Steuben County. Applicants much have 501(c)(3) status or have a partner 501(c)(3) organization that agrees to be the fiscal agent for the Community Impact Grant.
Proposals should focus on one of four priority areas for the American Heart Association:
- Controlling blood pressure
- Improving nutrition security
- Ending e-cigarette and tobacco use
- Community response (CPR)
