The mission of the American Heart Association in New York City is to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular disease and stroke. To achieve this mission, the Association, its staff and volunteers, attempts to make an extraordinary impact by meeting people where they are. To that end, this month our team will be active around the city, working to improve and extend the lives of all New Yorkers.

Lehman College Health Fair with African Nursing Student Association and Lehman Department of Nursing
Date: Monday, December 4th
Time: 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm
Location: Lehman College, Bronx, NY
Description: Partnering with ANSA and SHE to provide baseline blood pressures with AHA providing education & awareness to the students/staff of Lehman College.

Description: Partnering with the Sonny Archer foundation who are providing baseline blood pressures with AHA providing education & awareness to the Transit Police in their underground precincts (districts).

Description: Presentation on the ease and benefit of having “in-home” gardens to produce herbs and vegetables increasing access to fruits & vegetables. This event is facilitated by Dr. Icilma Fergus.
Service: AHA will provide Empowered to Serve health lesson on Got Fruits? How About Vegetables with tie in to healthy eating for the holiday as well as reducing sodium in your diet.
