Delivering healthy meals to frontline workers in Buffalo and Rochester

Everyone needs access to healthy meals, especially in a time of crisis. The American Heart Association spearheaded healthy meal deliveries in Rochester and Buffalo to healthcare workers on the frontline of COVID-19 in late April.

‘Heat and eat’ meal deliveries from Project Lean Nation were made possible by A.R. Arena Products, Bergmann, Bonduelle, CPL, Consiliarium Group, Constellation Brands, Excellus BCBS, LeChase and William N. LaForte, Esq in Rochester and Arc Building Partners, Elderwood, Mobile Primary Care, Rich Products, Sterling Heart Care, UnitedHealthcare, The Thurman Thomas Family Foundation, Walsh Duffield, and Project Lean Nation in Buffalo.

Meals were delivered to UR Medicine and Rochester Regional Health hospitals in Rochester. In the Buffalo area, Kaleida Health, including the 24/7 laboratory processing test facility, Catholic Health System and Elderwood’s post-acute facility in Amherst all received meal deliveries.

As a science-based healthcare organization, the American Heart Association, along with other community organizations, wants to ensure these heroes prioritized their health and had healthy food options as they take care of others.

A total of 2,700 meals were delivered over the week of April 27^th. Rochester hospitals received 1,400 and Buffalo-area hospitals received 1,300 meals.
