HARTFORD AREA RESIDENTS AND EMPLOYEES TAKE STEPS TO BEAT HEART HEALTH

The American Heart Association will hold its annual Hartford Heart Walk on Saturday, October 3rd at Rentschler Field in East Hartford. Over 2,000 supporters and survivors are expected to attend and raise funds to support cardiovascular research and education.

Walk activities begins at 9:00am. Prior to the walk kick-off, participants can enjoy complimentary health screenings, a kid’s zone with entertainment, and music.  The walk will begin at 10 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by the walk through Rentschler Field – rain or shine.

New this year is a half-mile obstacle course for kids taking place at 11:15am. With a $10 donation, kids can participate in a fun mud free, obstacle course and will receive a medal and bandana when completed.

Also taking place on walk day will be a special presentation by Aetna of the 2015 Lifestyle Change Award. Aetna is the sponsor of the annual award. The Lifestyle Change Award celebrates individuals who have made significant healthy lifestyle changes such as weight loss, lowering cholesterol, improving blood pressure, or increasing their level of activity. Three individuals will receive the award prior to the start of the walk.
