Hundreds of Mohawk Valley women join the fight against heart disease and stroke

More than 470 local women and men, many of them professionals with area businesses, packed the room at Daniele’s Banquet Specialists in New Hartford on Wednesday, May 6th2015 Go Red For Women Luncheonto help fight heart disease in women. The event raised more than $112,400 for the Go Red For Women campaign. Today’s luncheon was sponsored nationally by Macy’s, along with local signature sponsor First Source Federal Credit Union.

This year’s luncheon honored former Passion Speaker Chrissie Hughes. Chrissie survived multiple strokes and open heart surgeries, but passed away in November from an unrelated heart problem. Her daughter, Meaghan Bahr, shared her family’s story and urged women to visit a cardiologist to find out their risk.

Before the luncheon got underway, attendees had the opportunity to attend a heart health fair to learn about stress management, cooking healthy, their personal risk of stroke and much more.
