Mission in Action: The Annual Greater Washington Heart Walk will take place on November 3, 2018

Washington, D.C. – Join 12,000 walkers for the Greater Washington Region Heart Walk on November 3, 2018 to raise funds and support the American Heart Association’s mission to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives.

The Heart Walk is the American Heart Association’s premiere event for raising funds to save lives from heart disease and stroke. Designed to promote physical activity and heart-healthy living, the Heart Walk creates an environment that’s fun and rewarding for the entire family. The event features a non-competitive, three-mile walk or one-mile walk and is open to both teams and individuals. Festivities include Zumba by Bling it on Fitness, a Kids Zone, a Doggy Depot, activity stations and fun for the entire family. We also invite you to bring your dogs as we will have the annual dog costume parade to showcase your four-legged friends.

This year’s Heart Walk Chair is Mark Gray, CEO and President of ASRC Federal.

“It is an honor and privilege to chair this year’s Greater Washington Region Heart Walk. AHA’s efforts are making a profound difference in the lives of Americans. The Heart Walk provides an opportunity to come together with colleagues, family and friends to celebrate progress in the fight against heart disease and stroke. I encourage walkers from across the Maryland, DC and Virginia region to join us for a morning of fun, while giving back to our community and supporting a powerful cause,” said Gray.

The success of the Heart Walk is largely due to our great corporate sponsors and their commitment and involvement. For example, the American Heart Association and Sheehy Auto Stores work together to bring education opportunities to the community and raise funds for the mission.

“We are proud to partner with the American Heart Association on their annual Walk and will continue to support this cause that does so much to educate our community and help prevent the risks of heart disease and stroke,” said Vince Sheehy, President of Sheehy Auto Stores.  “As a company we have supported the American Heart Association for more than five years and to date, raised more than one million dollars.  We look forward to continuing this great partnership.”

The Greater Washington Heart Walk takes place on November 3, 2018 at 8:30a.m., at the National Mall in Washington, D.C. For more information on the event, visit: www.greaterwashingtonheartwalk.org.
