New York City-based companies help fight heart disease with American Heart Association’s Life Is Why We Give™ campaign

For Immediate Release:

New York City, February 1, 2018 — The American Heart Association, the world’s leading voluntary health organization devoted to fighting cardiovascular disease and stroke, has enlisted the support of corporations in raising funds for the cause. Now, when consumers shop online, get a manicure, or go to the ATM, they may have the opportunity to give to the American Heart Association via the Life Is Why We Give™ fundraising campaign.

Citi, White + Warren, and Maniorpedi.com are a few of the businesses helping the American Heart Association to fight heart disease and stroke – the number one and number five causes of death in America.

“At Citi we understand that physical health is as important as financial well-being,” said David Chubak, Head of Global Retail Banking & Mortgage at Citi and Chair of the 2018 Wall Street Run & Heart Walk. “Heart disease and stroke remain leading causes of death in America. By joining the Life Is Why We Give campaign, Citi is joining the fight to beat heart disease and stroke.”

“This February, we’re proud to support the American Heart Association in its effort to empower women to take charge of their health,” said Susan White Morrisey founder of White + Warren and member of the NYC Go Red For Women Executive Leadership Team. “We’ve joined the Life Is Why We Give fundraising campaign because every dollar raised helps fund lifesaving research and awareness that adds more time to women’s lives.”

“Together, we wanted to find a unique way to tell women that we want them to feel beautiful on the outside, but internal beauty is also important – being heart healthy is important. That is what the #GoRedNYC Manicure symbolizes,” said Joseph Orr, co-founder of maniorpedi.com. “By supporting the Life Is Why We Give campaign, we join millions of others working to build a world free of heart disease and stroke.”

“The American Heart Association is committed to fighting heart disease and stroke and improving the quality of life for all Americans,” said Kathy Kauffmann, Senior Vice President, NYC/Long Island, American Heart Association. “Our work nationally and in New York City would not be possible without the generous support of committed companies like these who provide donation opportunities to their customers. These corporate citizens provide a force multiplying impact to our work and help us get ever closer to a world without needless suffering or death.”
