Boston University newspaper profiles American Heart Association board member Traci Hong

The Daily Free Press, the independent student newspaper at Boston University, published a profile of associate professor Traci Hong today that focuses on her work as a volunteer for the American Heart Association.

Hong is a member of the American Heart Association’s Board of Directors in Boston. She also serves on the Boston Go Red for Women Executive Leadership Team.

“One of the reasons why I do it is because there’s a lot of health disparities … particularly if you’re a Black woman, you have some of the highest maternal mortality rates and a lot of people don’t realize that, ” Hong told reporter Eliza Lamont.

Karen A. Whitefield, the executive director of the American Heart Association in Boston, was quoted as saying, “When Traci talks about her reasons for supporting our mission, people take notice, and more importantly, they are inspired to act.”
