STEM Goes Red – Saturday STEM Spotlight

As cardiovascular disease continues to be the number one killer of women, ensuring more women are at the forefront of developing science, technology, education and math (STEM) solutions has never been more imperative. STEM is our future and as a science-based health non-profit, STEM is at the heart of who we are and what we do.

Unfortunately, a troubling gender gap exists in STEM, from the lack of women pursuing STEM related degrees to the number of women in STEM careers. The American Heart Association (AHA) is working to close these opportunity gaps through STEM Goes Red. STEM Goes Red is designed to provide young girls insights into the possibilities and potential they possess to make a real impact on the world around them.

Although we had to postpone our in-person STEM Goes Red event, the AHA is excited to bring students the Saturday STEM Spotlight starting on April 11, 2020. The Saturday STEM Spotlight will highlight the amazing work of women in STEM across Maryland and beyond. Included in the Saturday STEM Spotlight is a scavenger hunt for students to use to follow along and be entered for an American Heart Association STEM Goes Red swag bag.

How to participate:

  1. Follow @marylandaha on Instagram
  2. On April 11th watch our Instagram story and screenshot the scavenger hunt board
  3. Tune in every Saturday to see the new 30 second-to-1 minute STEM Spotlight (Missed an episode? Check out the highlight reel on our page!)
  4. Once your scavenger hunt board is complete, screenshot your scavenger hunt board, share it on your story, and tag @marylandaha to be entered for our swag bag prize!
