Next week, the Governor’s Office for Emergency Relief and Recovery (GOFERR) will decide how to use NH’s remaining federal COVID Relief Funds. This is a real opportunity for NH to help residents that are struggling right now.
Governor Sununu should use a portion of the relief funds for food purchasing programs that will help our under-resourced Granite Staters. Let the Governor know you support providing assistance to Granite Staters who need help the most.
The federal Cares Act provided $1.2 billion to NH to help alleviate economic hardships caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. About $30 million remains and must be spent by the end of December or returned to the federal government. A temporary increase of $12 million to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) would benefit 70,000 Granite Staters, including children, the elderly, and people with disabilities who are facing hardships accessing food.
Thank you for taking action to improve the health of NH communities.
