Congenital Heart Disease survivor and local student contribute to improving women’s health
New York , NY — Every year across the country, a select group of individuals are nominated to be a part of Woman of Impact and Teen of Impact because of their passion and drive to make a difference. Launching on National Wear Red Day, this 9-week blind competition is relentlessly focused on women’s heart health. Nominees work to build campaign plans, recruit Impact teams, and inspire their networks to support the American Heart Association’s lifesaving mission.
The American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women® New York City movement congratulates Cristina Civetta on becoming the 2023 NYC Woman of Impact winner and Lindsay Chubak on becoming the 2023 NYC Teen of Impact winner.
The goal of this competition is to raise critical funds and spread the mission of the American Heart Association. Whichever nominee earns the most points, is named the NYC winner. This year the two campaigns raised more than $260,000 combined. Women of Impact raised more than $217,019 and Teen of Impact collected $44,767. All funds raised will support the mission of the American Heart Association.
This year, nine leaders were nominated to join the Women of Impact competition and three for the Teen of Impact. The winners were announced in April at the NYC Go Red for Women Experience at Pier Sixty, where they were celebrated for their overall impact to the Association’s mission and community.
“To be named the 2023 Woman of Impact is beyond an honor,” said Cristina Civetta, who was born with congenital heart disease and has advocated for the American Heart Association for many years. “I am so thankful to all the donors who helped me achieve my goal. Being named Woman of Impact can help me further spread my message and help to save lives.”
Civetta has been highly involved with the American Heart Association on Long Island, serving as the previous Hamptons Heart Ball chair and by co-hosting the quarterly health webinar series, Spotlight on CHD.

Lindsay Chubak, 16, won the Teen of Impact category. She was excited to compete in this campaign to help women in New York City.
“I was so grateful for the opportunity to serve alongside a few remarkable girls as part of the American Heart Association’s Teen of Impact campaign. We all worked hard to put together teams of friends and family to help raise money and support life-saving work directed to women here across New York. Heart disease has a sad, terrible impact on women across New York City, and we were proud to do our part to benefit the lifesaving mission of the American Heart Association.”
