Boston Globe: Marijuana use linked with increased risk of heart attack, heart failure

The Boston Globe reported on two American Heart Association studies this week highlighting potential adverse health effects of daily marijuana use, including an increased risk of heart failure, stroke, or heart attack.

The findings, though not definitive, have sparked interest among health professionals and academics in Rhode Island, reports the Globe, as the state approaches its one-year anniversary of adult-use cannabis stores opening.

The studies were presented at the Association’s Scientific Sessions convention in Philadelphia.
