CSC Global’s Director of Technology named chair of Delaware STEM Goes Red mentor event

Marsha Auld-Saunders to chair the American Heart Association’s Delaware 2023-24 STEM Goes Red event

Dover, DE March 2024 – The American Heart Association, the world’s leading non profit organization devoted to a world of healthier lives for all, announces Marsha Auld- Saunders, director of technology for CSC Global, will serve as the executive volunteer chair of the 2023-2024 STEM Goes Red event.

As part of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women® movement, the focus of the Delaware STEM Goes Red event is to change the impact of heart disease by inspiring young women and successful female leaders to create a platform for positive change as it relates to innovation, technology, health and wellness in women.

“I’m thrilled to be chairing the Delaware STEM Goes Red event this year,” Auld- Saunders said. “There is an urgent need for more researchers, physicians, and specialists who like look me to be at the forefront of the life-saving work being done in the fight against heart disease and stroke. We must stand for better health for all.”

It is projected there will be 3.5 million STEM jobs in the U.S. by 2025, and 2 million of those jobs will go unfilled. The STEM employment gap is further compounded by persistent diversity challenges, as women and minorities comprise 70% of college students, but of 100 female students working toward a bachelor’s degree, only three will work in a STEM job 10 years after graduation.

As a science-based organization, the American Heart Association recognizes the need to grow engagement in STEM disciplines to make life-saving breakthroughs in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

“Marsha’s leadership for STEM Goes Red has been invaluable,” said Shabool Henry, executive director for the American Heart Association Delaware. “The STEM community in Delaware has an opportunity to elevate tomorrow’s female leaders to drive groundbreaking innovation.”

This annual event will bring together over 100 students from across the state of Delaware and give them an opportunity to connect with STEM professionals from the region.  The 2024 Delaware STEM Goes Red event will take place April 29 at Delaware Technical Community College*.

Go Red for Women is nationally sponsored by CVS Health and the Delaware Go Red for Women campaign is locally sponsored by Harvey Hanna Healthy Hearts Initiative, ChristianaCare, Chesapeake Utilities Corporation, Bayhealth, Agilent, Fulton Bank, Morris James, Greenman-Pederson-GPI, Del-One, and Delta Dental.

About Go Red for Women®

The American Heart Association’s signature initiative, Go Red for Women®, is a comprehensive platform designed to increase women’s heart health awareness and serve as a catalyst for change to improve the lives of women globally. While the majority of cardiac events can be prevented, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in women, claiming the lives of 1 in 3 women. For more than two decades, Go Red for Women has encouraged awareness. The movement harnesses the energy, passion and power of women to band together and collectively wipe out heart disease. It challenges them to know their risk for heart disease and take action to reduce their personal risk. It also gives them tools they need to lead a heart healthy life. The Go Red for Women movement is nationally sponsored by CVS Health, with additional support from national cause supporters.
