Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, killing over 928,000 people each year. Geisinger and Evangelical Community Hospital are working hand-in-hand with the American Heart Association, a global force for healthier lives for all, to change that. Megan Brosious, chief administrative officer for Geisinger’s central region and Saquib Siddiqi, DO, MS, cardiologist at the Heart and Vascular Center of Evangelical, along with Angela Lahr, vice president of clinical operations at Evangelical Community Hospital will serve as co-chairs for the 2023-2024 Greater Susquehanna Valley Heart Walk, leading the community campaign focused on the fight against heart disease and stroke.
“We are incredibly grateful for these leaders who are stepping up to move the needle when it comes to heart disease and stroke,” said Abby Silfies, executive director at the American Heart Association. “Through the various Heart Walk initiatives, we are able to drive maximum impact through employee engagement and corporate fundraising. Together, we can save lives right here in the Susquehanna Valley.”

Participants can register for the Heart Walk by visiting, heart.org/gsvpawalk. From there, create your personal fundraising page, download the Heart Walk mobile app, and encourage family and friends to join. The walk will be held rain or shine on Saturday, April 20 at The Miller Center, 120 Hardwood Drive, Lewisburg. Registration will open at 8:30 a.m. and the walk will begin at 9:30 a.m.
