The American Heart Association announced today that Michele Tantillo Sinopoli, MD, MBA, FACOG, chief medical officer for both Saint Vincent Hospital and MetroWest Medical Center, will chair the 2024 Central Massachusetts Heart and Stroke Ball, which will be held Friday, Feb. 16, 2024, at Mechanics Hall in Worcester.
The annual event celebrates progress made through the dedication and passion of all who support the American Heart Association’s Heart of Central Massachusetts campaign, a year-round effort aimed at driving change, funding science, and improving the health of everyone in our community. As Heart and Stroke Ball chair, Dr. Sinopoli is leading a team of area corporate executives and medical professionals working to recruit companies to support this lifesaving work.
“Dr. Sinopoli exemplifies true leadership and commitment as a physician and hospital executive here in Central Massachusetts, and we are grateful for her work as the head of our 2024 Heart and Stroke Ball campaign,” said Elizabeth L.B. Greene, chair of the American Heart Association’s Board of Directors in Central Massachusetts. “As a trusted member of our community, she understands the impact the work of the American Heart Association can have on the health of everyone in our region.”
Dr. Sinopoli earned her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering from Boston University, where she graduated summa cum laude. Most recently, Dr. Sinopoli earned her MBA from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
In her role at Saint Vincent Hospital, Dr. Sinopoli collaborates with hospital physician leaders and medical staff to develop and implement comprehensive clinical quality and patient safety initiatives. She has placed tremendous emphasis on health equity and quality outcomes in her work with the Saint Vincent Hospital Cardiovascular Disease Program.
As a physician, Dr. Sinopoli said she has witnessed first-hand the lifesaving impact of the American Heart Association’s research and education initiatives.
“I am eager to work with the outstanding team of volunteers and leaders at the American Heart Association as we all advocate to save lives from heart disease and stroke in Central Massachusetts and beyond,” said Dr. Sinopoli. “Together, we must continue to strive to do whatever we can to make a lasting impact on cardiovascular health.”
Joining Dr. Sinopoli on the Heart and Stroke Ball Executive Leadership Team are Briana Azier, CEO and owner of Bri’s Sweet Treats; Jennifer Bailey, physician’s assistant – critical care medicine, Intensive Care Unit, at Saint Vincent Hospital; and Christine Lee, office manager, Arborstone Outdoors.
The Heart and Stroke Ball is sponsored by IPG Photonics, M&T Bank and Fidelity Bank. This year’s campaign is focused on helping people control their blood pressure, training individuals to perform CPR and use a defibrillator, and increasing access to healthy food in areas where it’s hard to find. This will ensure more people have the chance to live a full and healthy life.
