The 2021 New Hampshire Go Red for Women® Luncheon will be held on March 11th as a statewide, digital experience.
Talesha Saint-Marc, Shareholder with Bernstein Shur, and Johanna L. Beliveau, President and Chief Executive Officer, Visiting Nurse and Hospice for VT and NH have agreed to serve as co-chairs of the Go Red for Women campaign in New Hampshire.
Saint-Marc, one of the Union Leader’s 40 under 40, said, “There is an urgent need for the government, public health organizations, health care professionals and community organizations to join forces to improve awareness of and provide solutions for heart disease in women, particularly among young women and women in diverse communities.”
The Go Red for Women Luncheon is designed to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease, the leading cause of death for women in the United States, as well as generate funds for lifesaving cardiovascular research. Erin Fehlau, Anchor of News 9 Daybreak and Host of NH Chronicle on WMUR-TV, will emcee the program which will feature inspiring survivor stories, heart disease and stroke education, and an exciting silent auction.
“Heart disease hits close to home for me, as my father experienced a heart attack when I was in high school,” said Saint-Marc. “Thankfully, my mother’s awareness of heart attack symptoms, from medical drama shows and campaigns from the American Heart Association, meant early intervention and saved my dad’s life. Now as a mom, I want to pass along a legacy of good heart health to my children.”
New findings from an Association special report published in September 2020 analyzing 10-year trends in women’s awareness that cardiovascular disease is their greatest health threat, show critical gaps in awareness among younger women. The trend is prevalent in women ages 25-34 and in Black and Hispanics of all ages.
“I’m excited to co-chair the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Luncheon on February 18. I love that the AHA spreads awareness of heart health and empowers women, families, and communities to improve their health,” added Saint-Marc.
The New Hampshire Go Red for Women Luncheon is sponsored nationally by CVS Health and locally by Hannaford Supermarkets, Visiting Nurse and Hospice for VT and NH, The Bayson Company, WMUR-TV, New Hampshire Magazine/New Hampshire Business Review, WZID FM, and Great Eastern Radio.
