NRG wants you to Eat Smart.

Change a little. Change a lot. Everyone has a reason to live a longer and healthier life, and life is why NRG Energy stands in support of the American Heart Association.  Why?  Life.  Life is why.

Eat smart and get Healthy for Good™ with the American Heart Association (AHA).  The Healthy for Good movement is designed to inspire all Americans to live healthier lives and create lasting change.  It focuses on the idea of making small, simple changes.

The American Heart Association’s EAT SMART, good nutrition and healthy eating observance is an opportunity for millions of people to kick off a healthier lifestyle, but it’s also about having fun and creating a healthier community.

NRG and the American Heart Association encourage you to raise awareness, share information and resources with your audiences, and consider holding some type of creative or fun healthy foods or healthy eating activity during November or December, or anytime throughout the year.

Take advantage of the wealth of free resources and content available.  Make small, consistent, healthy choices that will help you through these busy, hectic times and into the new year.  Here are four healthy tips to keep you on track:

  • Spice it up.  A great way to reduce sodium is to add more herbs and spices such as rosemary and thyme to flavor meals.
  • Choose nutritious snacks. To avoid overindulging, prep with satisfying, good mood foods that don’t sacrifice taste.
  • Shop smart. Grocery shopping can be overwhelming. So, if you’re looking for heart-healthy options, keep an eye out for the American Heart Association’s Heart-Check mark on select products.
  • Mind your mind. This year is looking much different, with more time spent at home. Find moments to practice gratitude, meditate and relish the time. Managing stress is good for your head and heart.
