Two female community leaders to be honored for their commitment to heart disease and stroke at The Lehigh Valley and Berks Heart Ball as the Association nears 100th Birthday.

Plans are underway for the 2024 Lehigh Valley and Berks Heart Ball, a local celebration of a century of profound impact on heart health and well-being. The new year marks the 100th birthday of the American Heart Association, the world’s leading nonprofit organization focused on heart and brain health. The Lehigh Valley and Berks Heart Ball celebrates progress made through the dedication and passion of all who support this year-round effort aimed at investing in and saving and improving lives in the Lehigh Valley and Berks County area.

“This relentless pursuit will continue until heart disease and stroke are the stories of our past and not of our future. A world with equitable health and well-being fuels a future that is yours to create,” said Justin Keiper, Board Chairman.  “We know we can’t do this work alone. Volunteers, donors and advocates are key to accelerating this lifesaving work.”

Throughout the evening, the Association will honor two female leaders in the community, Dr. Amy Ahnert and Valerie Lewis. The Heart of gold award is given to individuals who exemplify leadership, advocacy, dedication to the American Heart Association mission and have the upmost desire to better our community working with people, passion, and education. Both women have been supporters of the American Heart Association mission for several years and have been active volunteers of the organization and members of the Lehigh Valley and Berks Board of Directors. In addition, the night will feature an inspiring survivor story from Alison Conklin, crown our Leaders of Impact campaign winner, Rocco Zegalia and entertain guests with dinner, music from The Wonton Soups and an exciting auction.

The Lehigh Valley and Berks Heart Ball is sponsored by Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN), CHOP, Air Products, and many other local businesses and will be held on Saturday, February 3 at The Americus. Black and white attire is encouraged as this year’s theme is a black and white affair that will take us back in history to explore the scientific and medical advances in heart and stroke. The campaign is specifically focused on tackling to ensure more neighbors have the chance to live a full and healthy life.
