Walgreens Joins American Heart Association Life is Why We Give Campaign

The American Heart Association, the world’s leading voluntary health organization devoted to fighting cardiovascular disease and stroke, has enlisted the support of corporations in raising funds for the cause. When consumers visit Walgreens from June 15 – June 30, they will have the opportunity to give to the American Heart Association via the Life Is Why We Give™ fundraising campaign.

Walgreens joins other area businesses like Advanced Auto Parts, Kroger, Belk and more in helping the American Heart Association to fight heart disease and stroke – the number one and number five causes of death in America. In Walgreens stores across Maryland, customers may donate to the American Heart Association upon check out.

“We are so appreciative of the efforts of companies that embrace our mission and help to save lives across the United States,” said Tracy Brazelton, Market VP of the American Heart Association Greater Maryland. Life Is Why We Give inspires consumers to honor their reasons to live healthier, longer lives – by giving.”

Walgreens joins a number of national companies, including: Advanced Auto Parts, Barrett Jackson, Bourbon & Bowties, Brahmin, Brighton, Brita, Citi, eBay, Everything ORGO, FabFitFun, Fifth Third Bank, Ford, Healthy Human, HP Papers, Kroger, Land’s End, OfficeMart.com, Pilot Flying J, Spirit Fitness, Stein Mart, The Knot, Title Boxing, Wheels Up and White + Warren.

As the leading source of non-government funded cardiovascular science, the Association has invested more than $3.7 billion in scientific research and discovery since 1949. The organization trains approximately 2 million high school graduates in CPR every year and has reduced cardiovascular disease mortality by 70 percent since 1968.

In addition to contributing to save lives through company supporters, donations may be made directly to the Association at www.lifeiswhy.org/donate. To learn more about the Life Is Why We Give™ campaign and to find other participating companies, visit heart.org/lifeiswhywegive.

About Life Is Why We Give

We all deserve to live a long, healthy and happy life. However, heart disease and stroke are robbing too many of us from this innate entitlement. The American Heart Association is working to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to live their best life. When people donate or purchase goods and services that benefit the AHA from our Life is Why We ™ cause supporters, it puts us closer to the quality of life we all deserve. Life Is Why We ™ allows consumers to think about their reasons to live healthier, longer lives and to give in honor of those reasons. Too long, heart disease and stroke have stolen our precious moments. It’s time we fight back together and affirm that we’re more powerful than these diseases… because everyone has a reason to live a longer, healthier life… and that reason is why we give.
