The New Hampshire Heart Walk Is Two Days Away!

Are you ready to walk? A healthy lifestyle is our best weapon against heart disease and stroke – the nation’s No. 1 and No. 5 killers. At the New Hampshire Heart Walk on Saturday, June 1, hundreds will walk at Derryfield Park in Manchester, NH in support of local survivors and to raise awareness for heart disease and stroke. The New Hampshire Heart Walk is a 1 or 3 mile non-competitive walk with healthy snacks, CPR training, and heart-healthy activities.

Simple lifestyle changes, such as eating healthy and walking 30 minutes every day, promote heart and brain health. Mike Ramshaw, President of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, received the Lifestyle Change Award at the Walk for his dedication to a healthy lifestyle. At his heaviest, Mike was 457lbs. After committing to a lifestyle change for his family, Mike began running 4Ks and eating healthier. He has lost 149lbs during his health journey. About 1 in 3 U.S. adults reports participating in no leisure time physical activity and walking is a great way to start adding physical activity into your day.

Survivors from all over New Hampshire will join the walk, including Parker Bolton, 10-year-old heart transplant survivor from Pittsfield, NH. Heart Walk is locally supported by Hannaford Supermarkets, Catholic Medical Center, Northwestern Mutual, and Longchamps Electric, LLC.  New Hampshire Business Review, New Hampshire Magazine, The Mill, WZID, and WMUR are proud media sponsors of the American Heart Association New Hampshire Heart Walk.
