The American Heart Association is inviting the Southern Tier back to its premier event to boost physical and mental health through healthy habits while supporting the lifesaving mission.
On Sunday, April 10th, Southern Tier area Heart Walk participants and teams are invited to a brand new venue for the Heart Walk. Walkers can come to Otsiningo
Park to celebrate heart and stroke survivors, raise lifesaving funds and encourage physical activity.
This year’s walk will look a bit different. The entire event will take place outside. Participants are welcome to start their walk anytime between 8:00a.m. and 11:00a.m. The walk route will be open from 8:00a.m. until noon. There will be a special ceremony from the stage at 9:00a.m., as well as family-friendly activities throughout the morning.
This year’s theme, Heart Walk Here, invites participants to walk on the event path or to create a path of their own. From parks and parkways to tucked away trails, participants are invited to Heart Walk at any location that inspires their heart health. Heart Walk Here is led by co-chairmen John Carrigg, President and CEO of UHS, and Dan Spence, Director of Business and Indirect Development at Visions Federal Credit Union.
“We’re excited to be back in person to celebrate our commitment to a world of longer, healthier lives,” said Carrigg. “Getting active with the Heart Walk, however you choose to do that, is a step in the right direction.”
“The past two years have shown us that no matter where we are, we can come together for a common cause,” said Spence. “The Heart Walk is all about promoting the health and well-being of our community and supporting our lifesaving mission.”
