New executive director joins American Heart Association staff in Syracuse

The American Heart Association, Syracuse is pleased to announce a new executive director is joining the team.

 Jason Pomeroy will lead American Heart Association staff in the Syracuse, Watertown and Binghamton areas as the new executive director. Pomeroy most recently served as the director of annual leadership development for Smile Train, Inc., an international charity focused on cleft care for children. He has also held fundraising roles at several local colleges, including SUNY Cortland, Cazenovia College and Ithaca College.

“We are thrilled to have Jason joining the American Heart Association, especially at this pivotal time as we approach our Centennial anniversary,” said Liz Campbell, senior vice president with the American Heart Association’s Eastern States region. “Jason’s mission-based fundraising experience, emphasis on diversity, equity and inclusion and his leadership style will be important in continuing our strong foundation of improving health for all across our community.”

“I couldn’t be more honored to be joining such a prestigious organization at such a momentous time in its history,” said Pomeroy. “I am excited to do so as part of the tremendous team that works every day to help make an impact on the health of our community. I can’t wait to get started.”

Pomeroy currently lives with his wife and children in Cortland. He will begin his new role with the American Heart Association on Monday, July 17th.
