BOSTON — The American Heart Association invites the Boston legal community to join the Lawyers Have Heart campaign for an insightful event addressing mental health challenges within the legal profession. Expert speakers Daniel Lukasik and Dr. George Philippides will delve into the crucial link between mental well-being and cardiovascular health, offering valuable insights and strategies for preventing heart disease.
The event aims to foster a healthier, more resilient legal community by promoting awareness and open discussions surrounding health in the legal profession. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with industry experts, participate in meaningful dialogue, and gain knowledge on maintaining overall well-being. A continental breakfast will be provided.

GUEST SPEAKERS:
Daniel Lukasik: Following his diagnosis of major depression and anxiety 20 years ago when the managing partner at his law firm, Daniel created a weekly lawyer support group in his community for those who struggle with depression, anxiety, burnout and chronic stress. He also created the website LawyersWithDepression.com to help lawyers, law students and judges cope with and heal from mental health problems. Daniel has given over 200 presentations around the country on stress, anxiety and depression for law firms. His work has been featured in multiple national publications.
In addition to his public speaking work, Daniel is the judicial wellness coordinator for the New York State Office of Court Administration and adjunct professor of law at the University at Buffalo School of Law.
Dr. George Philippides: Dr. Philippides is the chief of the Division of Cardiology and medical director of the Elfers Cardiovascular Center at Newton-Wellesley Hospital, where he has worked since 2014. From 1997 to 2008, Dr. Philippides served as the Director of the Boston Medical Center Coronary Care Unit. He is a longtime volunteer for the American Heart Association and serves on the Association’s Board of Directors in the Eastern States region.
