National Walking Day 2025: Walk more. Stress less.

A walk isn’t just good for your body—it’s a simple, powerful way to care for your mind and soul. Physical activity, like walking, reduces stress, boosts mood, and promotes overall well-being. For decades, the American Heart Association has championed the importance of physical activity in communities across the country. That’s why we created National Walking Day more than a decade ago—to encourage everyone to move more and stress less. Today, we know that even a brisk walk can make a world of difference for heart health and mental clarity.

On April 2, lace up your sneakers and join us at The St. James sports complex in Springfield, VA for a special National Walking Day event presented by Sheehy Auto Stores. The event is free and open to the public. Wear your workout gear and get ready to #MoveMoreDC! Guests will participate in a walking challenge with interactive sessions including fitness demos led by St. James trainers and professional rugby team, Old Glory DC, healthy cooking demos, hands-only CPR coaching and more. Check-in opens at 7:30 AM and the event begins at 8:00 AM.

Sessions include a cooking demo, yoga, tabata, pilates, Zumba, CPR and a special training session with Old Glory. The WASH-FM street team will be onsite with music, giveaways and more!

National Walking Day at the St. James will include these cooking, CPR and exercise training sessions
