Eduardo Ortiz named chairperson of 2026 Heart of Greater Washington campaign
The American Heart Association has announced that Eduardo Ortiz, CEO of Coforma, will serve as chairperson of the 2026 Heart of Greater Washington campaign. This initiative propels the relentless pursuit of scientific discovery, public policy change, equitable health for the under-resourced and underrepresented and education to equip the community to take control of their health. The campaign will culminate in the Heart Ball, scheduled for March 28, 2026, at the Waldorf Astoria in Washington, D.C. The event celebrates hope and progress made through the dedication and passion of all who support the Association’s efforts to save and improve lives.

Ortiz is a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, a former member of the U.S. Digital Service, and a recognized leader in civic tech. In 2017, he and two others co-founded Coforma, a digital services firm focused on developing technology solutions. Today, the company employs more than 150 individuals committed to designing products and services with values-aligned government, nonprofit and commercial partners.
Beyond its mission-focused work, Coforma champions initiatives and organizations that impact communities across its veterans services, public interest, and healthcare focus areas.
“We know health is at the heart of the human experience,” says Ortiz. “Heart disease is alarmingly prevalent across all demographics but is statistically more likely to impact people of color, those from lower socio-economic backgrounds and our nation’s veterans. Supporting the Heart of Greater Washington campaign to raise awareness and make real change in our area and beyond is a way to extend the work we do each day to improve health outcomes for everyone.”
