Boston TV spot highlights effort to teach CPR and save lives during American Heart Month

The American Heart Association’s mission to build a Nation of Lifesavers through CPR education is reaching living rooms across Massachusetts this month, thanks to a new public service announcement airing throughout February on WCVB Channel 5 Boston.

The television spot — running during American Heart Month — features Jessica Brown, WCVB’s NewsCenter 5 anchor, medical reporter and host of CityLine. She delivers a powerful reminder that when cardiac arrest strikes, everyday people are often the first ones in a position to help.

“When a heart stops… the clock starts,” Brown says in the PSA.

In those critical moments, she explains, the first responder isn’t always a medical professional – it’s a coach, a parent, a coworker or a passerby. The message is simple but urgent: you don’t need medical training to save a life, just the knowledge to perform CPR and the courage to act.
