Joseph Pepe, MD, will rally support for June event
Dr. Joseph Pepe, President and CEO of Catholic Medical Center (CMC), is chairing this year’s American Heart and Stroke Walk on June 3 at Derryfield Park in Manchester. Dr. Pepe is asking hospitals, businesses and community organizations to come together to help raise awareness about cardiovascular health and stroke. 
“By chairing this year’s Heart and Stroke Walk, I am reinforcing CMC’s commitment to the Life is Why effort here in our community. This event is a great way to rally together for a life-saving cause while at the same time encouraging others to make simple changes in their lives to become healthier,” said Dr. Pepe.
CMC has teamed up with the American Heart Association (AHA) as the New Hampshire Life is Why sponsor. Life is Why emphasizes the emotional connection to the work of the AHA. The campaign encourages people of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds to consider what or who they are living for and turn that into their personal motivation for making small changes in their lifestyles, adding up to healthier, happier and longer lives.
Heart disease and stroke remain the leading health threats to all Americans, inspiring families, friends and co-workers from all over New Hampshire to form Heart Walk teams and contemplate their personal “whys.” Many will walk in honor or in memory of loved ones affected by heart disease, stroke and congenital heart defects.
The AHA uses the funds raised through the Heart Walk to fund cutting-edge scientific research, conduct public and professional educational programs and advocate for public health.
