Powerful Women Unite at Go Red For Women Luncheon in NYC

For Immediate Release:

NEW YORK, NY, February 15, 2018 – The American Heart Association, the world’s leading voluntary health organization devoted to fighting cardiovascular disease and stroke, hosts its annual Go Red for Women Luncheon in New York City on March 2 at the New York Hilton Midtown. The luncheon is part of the Go Red for Women movement, which is sponsored nationally by Macy’s and CVS Health and locally by Northwell Health and the Elizabeth Elting Foundation.

The NYC luncheon will bring together over 1,200 guests including medical, social, corporate, and philanthropic leaders to celebrate NYC women joining together to battle heart disease and stroke.

The Association is proud to announce that Broadway star Lea Salonga, from the hit musical ONCE ON THIS ISLAND, will provide a special musical performance and three-time Emmy Award winning news correspondent and best-selling author Mara Schiavocampo will serve as Emcee. Keynote by Latham Thomas, women’s wellness maven, one of Oprah’s Super Soul 100, bestselling author and founder of Mama Glow.

“Heart disease affects women of all ages and backgrounds. I am proud to go red for my daughter and for my mother, in the hopes that little girls and women of any age realize the importance of heart health,” said Lea Salonga. “I am proud to lend my voice to the Go Red for Women movement because the battle to defeat the number one killer of women won’t be won unless more women join together!”

“For over a decade, Go Red for Women has been empowering women to wear red, share their stories of survival and elevating awareness that heart disease and stroke kill nearly one in three women each year. It is an honor to join this important movement,” said Mara Schiavocampo.

“The Go Red for Women movement represents women working together to take control of our health and finding our most powerful self. Joining this movement means inspiring women to make lifestyle changes, mobilize communities and shape policies to save lives. United, we are working to improve the health of all women.” said Latham Thomas.

The 2018 Go Red for Women Luncheon guests will enjoy an informative panel discussion, a wellness expo featuring free health screenings, heartwarming survivor stories and an inspiring program.
