The Southern New England Heart and Stroke Ball Dazzles Downtown Providence

The Southern New England Heart and Stroke Ball was a night to remember, while raising funds to support the American Heart Association’s mission! The black-tie gala held on September 27th, 2019 and raised $250,000.

More than 300 distinguished guests bid, dined and danced to celebrate life at the Graduate (formerly Biltmore) Hotel downtown in Providence. Event highlights included a silent and live auction with fabulous items including a trip to Vail, a Race Car package from Tasca, African Safari Adventure, and more!

This year’s Community Impact Award recipient was Dr. Richard Haas, from Rhode Island Medical Imaging. The 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award was awarded to Dr. Arun Singh, for his incredible contributions throughout his career towards cardiovascular care. The survivor of the evening was Brooke O’Connell, who shared her story and the importance of AHA’s messaging to act FAST.

The American Heart Association was proud to have ABC 6 local News Anchor, John Deluca, emcee this wonderful evening. As well as host, internationally recognized physician, Dr. Michael Greger, who taught the audience key components from his book “How Not to Die.” The evening was capped off with dessert and dancing reception with live band The Cartune Heroes.

A huge thank you to the 2019 Chair, Dr. Ryan McTaggart, and his wife, Carolanne, for making the event a huge success!
