The chilly weather and lingering snow didn’t stop the Capital Region from celebrating National Walking Day.
In Albany’s South End, New York state’s Commissioner of Health, Dr. Howard Zucker, Albany County’s Department of Health Commissioner Dr. Elizabeth Whalen, Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy, and Albany Medical Center’s Dr. Kallana Manjunath joined a walking tour of Albany’s Healthy Historic Walking Path. Orville Abrams, the Y’s director of community development, showed off beautiful architecture and shared the history of a community that hosted waves of immigrants in the Capital Region.
At Patroon Creek, staff at CDPHP took time from their day to get out and exercise.
Why walk? It’s good for your heart and brain! Exercise is one of the leading ways to prevent heart disease and stroke. And you can walk anywhere, at only the cost of a decent pair of sneakers.
Keep up to date on photos of the day by following #AHALaceUp and #NationalWalkingDay.
