Manchester Businesswoman Set To Chair Manchester Go Red for Women Luncheon

Talesha Saint-Marc, one of this year’s picks for the Union Leader’s 40 under 40, has signed on to be the Chairwoman of the 2019 Manchester Go Red for Women Luncheon on October 4 at the Manchester Country Club in Bedford, New Hampshire. Talesha is a shareholder in Bernstein Shur’s Labor & Employment and Litigation & Dispute Resolution Practice Groups and provides thoughtful and practical advice and counsel to employers regarding all aspects of labor and employment law, including compliance with state and federal workplace laws and management of unionized workforces, and she defends employers against employee-initiated litigation, such as Title VII and state human rights claims.

Cardiovascular disease kills one woman about every 80 seconds. It is the leading cause of death in women, claiming the lives of one in three women. According to the American Heart Association, about 80 percent of cardiovascular diseases and stroke can be prevented. Go Red for Women, the American Heart Association’s signature women’s initiative nationally sponsored by CVS Health, is a comprehensive platform designed to increase women’s heart health awareness and serve as a catalyst for change to improve the lives of women globally.

Talesha comes from a family with a long history of service to their community. She was first introduced to the American Heart Association at last year’s Go Red for Women Luncheon and was inspired to help educate women about their health risks, especially minority women. The risks of heart disease are higher in the Black community, but unfortunately, only 36 percent of Black women know that heart disease is their greatest health risk.

“Heart disease hits close to home for me, as my father experienced a heart attack when I was in high school.  Thankfully, my mother’s awareness of heart attack symptoms, from medical drama shows and campaigns from the American Heart Association, meant early intervention and saved my dad’s life,” said Talesha, ”That’s why I’m excited to be chairing the American Heart Association for this year’s Go Red for Women Luncheon.  I’m hoping to spread awareness of heart health and empower more women, families, and communities to improve their health.”
