Peter Lancette, chief executive officer of Fairlawn Rehabilitation Hospital, an affiliate of Encompass Health, has been named chair of the 2023 Central Massachusetts Heart and Stroke Ball.
The Heart and Stroke Ball celebrates progress made through the dedication and passion of all who support the American Heart Association’s Heart of Central Massachusetts, a year-round effort aimed at saving and improving lives in the region.
“Peter exemplifies true leadership and commitment as a dedicated healthcare executive in central Massachusetts and is the ideal person to head our Heart and Stroke Ball campaign,” said Dr. David McManus, president of the American Heart Association’s Board of Directors in central Massachusetts.
McManus, who is a cardiologist and physician-scientist at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School, added: “As a trusted member of this community, Peter understands the impact the work of the American Heart Association can have on every person who lives in our community.”
As CEO of Fairlawn, Lancette oversees the day-to-day operations as well as patient care and quality at the 110-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital, located at 189 May St., in Worcester. He assumed the position in July of 2021.
He previously worked at Fairlawn’s joint venture partner, University of Massachusetts Medical Center, the largest healthcare system in central Massachusetts. He has also served in several leadership roles over his 25 years within the UMass system, most recently as associate vice president as well as interim associate chief nursing officer for their field hospital operations in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I am eager to work with the American Heart Association and its outstanding team of volunteers as we advocate for health equity and continue to educate individuals in our local community,” said Lancette. “Together, we must continue to strive to do all that we can to make a lasting impact on the health of central Massachusetts.”
The Central Massachusetts Heart and Stroke Ball will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023, at Mechanics Hall in Worcester. The annual event is a night to honor survivors, patrons and volunteers of the American Heart Association, the world’s leading nonprofit organization focused on heart and brain health.
