Philadelphia executive leads efforts to improve women’s heart health

Amanda Bruno to chair the American Heart Association’s Philadelphia 2026-2027
Go Red for Women initiative

According to recent American Heart Association projections, by 2050, almost 60% of women could have high blood pressure. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains the No. 1 killer of women, but it doesn’t have to be.[1] The American Heart Association, a relentless force changing the future of health for everyone everywhere, is encouraging women to prioritize their heart health.

Leading that effort locally is Amanda Bruno, global chief business development and marketing officer at Morgan Lewis, who is serving as the 2027 chair for Philadelphia’s Go Red for Women® movement. This campaign empowers women to take charge of their heart health by educating them on their risk factors in every stage of life while addressing critical gaps in research and health care. Go Red for Women is dedicated to helping every woman, in every stage of life, improve their heart and brain health.

“Women’s health is not a passing trend—it is a priority that demands sustained attention, investment and research,” said Bruno. “Go Red for Women is a call to action to raise awareness, inspire change and protect the health and futures of the women who matter most to us.”

Despite the threat of CVD an American Heart Association survey found less than half of women are aware of their unique risk. Go Red for Women is committed to closing gaps in access to care and championing a community of support.

Life moves fast, and for many women, their own health is often the first thing pushed to the bottom of the list. This year, the Greater Philadelphia Go Red for Women is encouraging women to make themselves a priority and take action before a health crisis occurs. Through education, awareness and connection, we are empowering women across our communities to know their risk, advocate for their health and take simple steps that can lead to longer, healthier lives.

“Women have always been able to count on each other. Amanda is leading that community and sisterhood in Philadelphia and creating a ripple of change,” said Bill Bulat, associate vice president, Go Red for Women campaign, Heart Association – Greater Philadelphia. “Go Red for Women is about slowing down to prioritize the health of the women in our lives.”

The Philadelphia Go Red for Women Experience will take place at the Bellevue Hotel, S. Broad Street, Philadelphia, on Wednesday, May 19, featuring an inspiring program with survivor stories and lunch, followed by an interactive pop-up lounge where guests can connect, take real action for their heart health and experience what makes this event unforgettable.

The Philadelphia Go Red for Women Experience is locally sponsored by Philadelphia Champion sponsor Main Line Health. For more information, contact Bill Bulat at bill.bulat@heart.org.
