WCVB Channel 5 Boston weekend evening anchor Jennifer Peñate will serve as the emcee for the 2024 Boston Heart Walk, taking place on Saturday, Oct. 26, on Boston Common.
The Heart Walk, is one of the American Heart Association’s largest annual events. This year’s walk is expected to draw thousands of participants from across Greater Boston to fund medical research, train people in CPR, and break down barriers to health equity.

Peñate, who joined Channel 5 in June 2023, brings a wealth of experience to her role as a trusted voice in Boston. An award-winning journalist, she co-anchors NewsCenter 5’s weekend evening newscasts alongside Shaun Chaiyabhat and reports throughout the week.
Before coming to Boston, Peñate worked at WFLA/WTTA in Tampa Bay, Fla., where she anchored English and Spanish-language newscasts and earned a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for her digital reporting. Her background includes covering major national stories, from the devastating Arkansas River flooding to the George Floyd protests, and she has built a career rooted in community service and advocacy.
