Media Advisory: American Heart Association’s Boston Heart Walk set for Saturday, Oct. 26, on Boston Common

Opportunities for Media to Interview Local Heart Disease and Stroke Survivors with Compelling Stories

WHAT: The American Heart Association’s annual Boston Heart Walk will take place on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024, on Boston Common at 10 a.m. The event brings together thousands of participants to raise awareness and funds to fight heart disease and stroke. Media are invited to cover the event and interview local survivors with inspiring personal stories of battling heart disease and stroke.

Among those available for interviews:

Valerie Giglio – A singer from Stoneham, Valerie will perform the national anthem at 10 a.m. In 2014, a stroke left Valerie paralyzed on her left side and took away her voice. Scott Daley – The 2024 Boston Heart Walk’s volunteer chair and a Reebok executive, Scott’s personal connection to the cause stems from his own experience undergoing heart surgery. Through his leadership, Reebok – headquartered in Boston – has pledged to donate $1 for every pair of walking shoes sold from their Walking Shoe Line to the American Heart Association as part of the organization’s Life is Why campaign. Scott, a resident of Franklin, will share his story and discuss how he is using his position at Reebok to support the fight heart disease.

Ron Gilberto – In 2021, Ron suffered a sudden cardiac arrest at his home in Sudbury in front of his family. His daughter, Claire, immediately began performing CPR, saving his life.
