Community unites to save lives: 2026 NH Heart Walk aims to fund research, build CPR confidence

The New Hampshire Heart Walk will take place on Sunday, May 31 at Livingston Park in Manchester. Hundreds of participants will walk to save lives while raising essential funds to advance lifesaving research, increase CPR education and training and drive equitable health for all people.

Mike Ramshaw

Mike Ramshaw, General Manager, E&R Laundry and Dry Cleaners, will lead the charge as the 2026 New Hampshire Heart Walk Chair. Under Ramshaw’s leadership, top executives throughout southern New Hampshire will unite to recruit companies and organizations to join the Heart Walk, a year-round campaign aimed at raising funds to fight cardiovascular disease while equipping people with education, knowledge and resources to act in the face of a cardiac emergency by learning CPR.

“Cardiac arrest can strike anyone at any time, and the outcome often comes down to whether someone nearby knows what to do,” Ramshaw said. “We envision at least one person in every household feeling confident to perform CPR. By joining Heart Walk, Granite State employers can help ensure that when it matters most, their employees are prepared to act during a cardiac emergency.”

The American Heart Association has put a spotlight on CPR education as a critical element of the Heart Walk campaign. According to the Association, nine out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside of a hospital die yet immediate CPR can double or even triple the chances of survival.

Alongside interactive and educational displays, including Hands-Only CPR demonstrations, participants will be welcomed with a brief speaking program to kick off the walk, hosted by Erin Fehlau, anchor, WMUR-TV and Laura Stelchook, morning host, Live Free Country. Levi Skarupa will share his journey of discovering he had a genetic heart condition in his teens.

“I’ve learned so many lessons throughout my journey,” said Skarupa. “Listening to my body is one of the biggest. I’m so grateful for my care team, for their perseverance, and for my ability to persevere along with them. My story really connects with the American Heart Association’s mission of supporting research – like for my genetic condition – teaching the warning signs and helping families.”

Ramshaw and his team of top executive leaders have set a goal of raising $140,000 to support the Association’s mission. The 2026 New Hampshire Heart Walk Executive Leadership Team comprises the following members: Daniel Giuliani, M&T Bank; Taylor Proulx, M&T Bank; Sherri Panaro. Hub International; Kris Chaisson MS, BSN, RN, CCRN, NEA-BC, Elliott Health System.
