Maureen Adams, Westmed’s Chief Clinical Officer, to Serve as Chair of the Westchester Go Red for Women movement.

The American Heart Association (AHA) announced today that Maureen Adams, RN, MBA, Chief Clinical Officer of Westmed Medical Group, will serve as chair of the 2020 Westchester Go Red for Women movement.

As Chair of the Go Red for Women movement in Westchester, Ms. Adams will work to raise funds and spread awareness of heart disease while championing the Go Red for Women mission in Westchester. The American Heart Association uses all revenues from local and National Go Red for Women activities to support research, education, and community programs to benefit cardiovascular disease prevention in women.

Maureen will also be leading and speaking at the Go Red for Women luncheon taking place on April 3, 2019. The luncheon serves as the cornerstone event of the Go Red for Women movement in local communities.

“As a board member of the Westchester AHA, I am honored to be serving as Chairperson of this year’s Go Red for Women campaign.  Heart disease remains the No. 1 killer of women, yet 80 percent of all incidences are preventable by adopting a healthy lifestyle,” said Ms. Adams.  “I am passionate about Go Red for Women because it not only teaches women how they can reduce their risk for cardiovascular disease, but it also inspires them to adopt healthy habits that will have lasting, positive impact on their overall health.  As the chair of this movement, I am committed to ensuring all women in Westchester have the opportunity to learn important lifesaving information.”

Go Red for Women encourages awareness of the issue of women and heart disease and provides women with resources to take action to save more lives.  The movement harnesses the energy, passion, and power women have to band together and collectively wipe out heart disease.  It challenges them to know their risk for heart disease and take steps to reduce their personal risk.  It also gives them the tools they need to lead a heart healthy life.

Ms. Adams has served as the Chief Clinical Officer of Westmed Medical Group, an award-winning multispecialty outpatient care organization, based in Purchase, NY, since 2011. In her role she is responsible for administering and directing patient programs, quality and clinical activities across the organization to ensure patient health and engagement.  Ms. Adams oversees clinical programming, case management, diabetes education, nutrition, Coumacare and pharmacy programs at Westmed with a view to provide unparalleled clinical and service excellence for Westmed patients.

“One in three women die of heart disease and stroke each year, that’s approximately one woman every minute!  The American Heart Association encourages all women to take control of their own health and join the Go Red for Women movement to advocate for more research and swifter action for women’s heart health,” said Joseph Giamelli, M.D., President of the American Heart Association’s  Westchester Board of Directors and Pediatric Cardiologist, Boston Children’s Physicians.  “We are so pleased that Maureen and Westmed will join together with the American Heart Association to help us improve the health of all Westchester women.”

Go Red for Women is nationally sponsored by CVS Health.  Local Westchester sponsors include Westmed Medical Group, Greenwich Hospital Yale New Haven Health, White Plains Hospital, Fujifilm, United Hebrew Willow Towers, Baker Botts, Mastercard, and Tompkins Mahopac Bank.  Media sponsors include 100.7 WHUD and Westchester Magazine.
