Mike Vail

Vail currently serves on the Board of Directors for the United Way of Greater Portland and Food Marketing Institute Foundation Board. He served as the 2018 Maine Heart Walk Chair and continues to support the Association’s efforts.

Chaired by Eric Jermyn, President of Cross Employee Benefits, this event is designed to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease – the leading cause of death for women in the United States – as well as generate funds for lifesaving cardiovascular research for women. This year’s goal is to raise $475,000 for the Go Red for Women movement. While the majority of cardiac events can be prevented, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in women, claiming the lives of 1 in 3 women. Since 2004, Go Red for Women has had a profound impact on women’s health, challenging them to know their risk for heart disease and to take action to reduce their personal risk by sharing tools they need to lead a heart-healthy life.

Go Red for Women is nationally sponsored by CVS Health and the Maine Luncheon is locally sponsored by Signature Sponsors, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and MaineHealth. Additional local sponsors include: Spectrum Healthcare Partners; Hannaford Supermarkets; WEX; Bangor Savings Bank; Baker Newman Noyes; MEMIC; Camden National Bank; Community Health Options; Cross Insurance; Bank of America; NBT Bank; Northeast Bank; Spinnaker Trust; and Turner Construction. The luncheon’s local media sponsors are Channel 8 WMTW, Mainebiz and 101.9 POR.
