Jeanine Jarowicz and Mike Vail to be honored at the Go Red for Women® Luncheon
The American Heart Association in Maine will hold its 16th annual Maine Go Red for Women® Luncheon on March 21 at the Holiday Inn by the Bay in Portland.
The main speaking program, emceed by Channel 8 WMTW Anchor Kathleen Jordan, will feature inspiring survivor stories, heart-health and stroke education, and the presentation of two Crystal Heart awards. The 2023 Crystal Heart awards will be presented to Jeanine (Chesley) Jarowicz, CEO of New England Rehabilitation Hospital of Portland, and Mike Vail, President of Hannaford Supermarkets. This award recognizes those individuals who strive to make Maine a better place to live, work, and thrive through their commitment to the well-being of Maine citizens.
Throughout her career, Jarowicz has been involved in many committees and charitable events. Her involvement with the Association began in 2010 when she chaired the Go Red for Women Luncheon’s auction committee. She continued working for the Go Red for Women event until 2015 when she agreed to co-chair the Maine Heart Walk and remains active on that event’s committee.
Vail currently serves on the Board of Directors for the United Way of Greater Portland and Food Marketing Institute Foundation Board. He served as the 2018 Maine Heart Walk Chair and continues to support the Association’s efforts.
Chaired by Eric Jermyn, President of Cross Employee Benefits, this event is designed to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease – the leading cause of death for women in the United States – as well as generate funds for lifesaving cardiovascular research for women. This year’s goal is to raise $475,000 for the Go Red for Women movement. While the majority of cardiac events can be prevented, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in women, claiming the lives of 1 in 3 women. Since 2004, Go Red for Women has had a profound impact on women’s health, challenging them to know their risk for heart disease and to take action to reduce their personal risk by sharing tools they need to lead a heart-healthy life.
Go Red for Women is nationally sponsored by CVS Health and the Maine Luncheon is locally sponsored by Signature Sponsors, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and MaineHealth. Additional local sponsors include: Spectrum Healthcare Partners; Hannaford Supermarkets; WEX; Bangor Savings Bank; Baker Newman Noyes; MEMIC; Camden National Bank; Community Health Options; Cross Insurance; Bank of America; NBT Bank; Northeast Bank; Spinnaker Trust; and Turner Construction.
