It’s Getting Chili Out!
Chili sampling event will warm your heart –
and help fight heart disease
Albany, New York – Twelve local personalities will don chef’s gear on Thursday, Oct. 22, cook up some heart-healthy chili, and let the public decide whose is best.
“It’s Getting Chili Out” is the brainchild of Carol Nieckarz and James Cadet of UBS Financial Services, members of the American Heart Association’s Circle of Red and Red Tie Society, respectively. The event, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at The State Room, 100 State St. in Albany, benefits the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women movement.
“We all want comfort food when the temperature falls,” Nieckarz said. “Few things are as warming as chili, and it can be a dish that’s really good for your heart. Plus, it will be fun to sample the dishes and vote on them.”
“I’m struck that heart disease is 80 percent preventable, particularly if you eat a healthy diet,” Cadet said. “This event will show that healthy tastes good. I’m looking forward to seeing what our celebrity chefs offer up.”
The chefs are:
- James Cadet of UBS;
- Harry Cohn of Fine Line Home Inspection;
- Richard Dal Col of CDPHP;
- Greg Gattuso of the University of Albany;
- John Guastella of the American Heart Association;
- Jane and Neil Golub of Price Chopper;
- Former NBA player and ref Michael Henderson;
- Barb Hess of SEFCU;
- Cheryl Richardson of Mary Kay;
- Craig Tolosky, aka Mo Riah, the area’s only country rapper
- Benita Zahn of WNYT;
“It’s Getting Chili Out” is free to Circle of Red and Red Tie Society members, with a suggested donation of $25 for others.
