Johns Hopkins Medicine and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association hosted the 10th Annual Power To End Stroke Jazz Brunch and Awareness Fair on Saturday, May 20, 2017. The brunch was designed to narrow the knowledge gap about stroke – a leading cause of disability and death for all Americans – because studies show that few people know the risk factors, warning signs or what to do in a stroke emergency. Health professional were on hand to provide free preventive screenings as well as health education on a range of topics, including high blood pressure, physical activity and nutrition. Actor Charles “Roc” Dutton gave a powerful testimony about his determination to overcome his stroke.
