The American Heart Association in Maine (AHA) will hold its 2nd annual Go Red “Purse-onality” event on Wednesday, June 27 at the Nonantum Resort in Kennebunkport from 5-7 PM. This event features a silent auction of more than 25 purse packages donated by local supporters. Each purse is hand-selected and filled with items and mementos that reflect the “purse-onality” of the contributor.
Channel 8 WMTW Anchor Tracy Sabol will emcee the event, which will include a focus on women’s heart disease and stroke education. The purpose of this event is to have fun while celebrating the Go Red movement to increase awareness of heart diseases and stroke. An educational component will be included to provide attendees with a better understanding about women’s risk of heart disease and stroke to inspire women to take charge of their own health.
Robin Hodgskin of Morgan Stanley is the 2018 Go Red For Women Chairwoman and is leading this year’s event. “Cardiovascular diseases, which includes stroke, claim the life of a woman about every 80 seconds. As the leading killer of women — claiming the lives of one in three women — cardiovascular diseases force us to consider that a woman we know and love may be affected at any age,” said Hodgskin.
Tickets are $30 ($35 at the door). Heavy appetizers will be provided along with a cash bar. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit purseonalitymaine.heart.org or contact Katie Rooks at 207-289-2388 or Katie.Rooks@heart.org.
Go Red For Women is sponsored nationally by Macy’s and CVS Health and locally by Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. Purse-onality is sponsored by Morgan Stanley.
